Working Stronger Together
We're expanding how we work across Lincolnshire to get more people, more active, more often.
In 2025, Active Lincolnshire secured funding for the development phase of the Place Partnership work for East Lindsey, Boston and South Holland. This provides a unique opportunity to work within these communities to truly understand the barriers some people face in becoming more active, and to offer solutions to enable people to become healthier and happier through movement.
To do this we are working in partnership with Sport England to develop a place based approach to support these areas.
Place Partnerships, part of Sport England’s Uniting the Movement strategy, tackle inactivity, and inequality through co-creating solutions based on the needs of a local community. The work builds on the 12 Local Delivery Pilots launched in 2017, which showed the value of collaborating with communities to remove barriers and co-create solutions.
This approach aims to tackle inactivity and related inequalities by identifying barriers and developing local solutions together. You can see the positive impact this is already having in the Local Delivery Pilot’s by listening to the 6-episode podcast series featuring 18 place partners sharing their experiences.
The investment is focussed on the three districts, Boston, East Lindsey and South Holland, and we will work immersively in certain communities within those districts. The learnings will be shared and help other parts of Lincolnshire.
Further Sport England investment, the ‘Place Universal Offer’ will support the other districts in Lincolnshire to consider what changes can be made in those areas to bring about change. A significant part of this will be learning through the place expansion work.
Working with local authorities and partners, we aim to embed physical activity into everyday life and drive systemic change across communities.
Place-based working means tailoring solutions to local needs, not imposing universal fixes. We’ll consult communities and stakeholders to develop a Theory of Change for each district, ensuring maximum impact.
Co-creation empowers communities to lead, with us facilitating partnerships and enabling others to bring about change.
