Find out how our place investment will be used.
In 2025, Active Lincolnshire secured funding for the development phase of the Place Partnership project for East Lindsey, Boston and South Holland. This provides a unique opportunity to work within these communities to truly understand the barriers some people face in becoming more active, and to offer solutions to enable people to become healthier and happier through movement. Find out more about how the funding will be used below.
The funding will enable us to obtain a clear picture of what prevents activity and how to overcome it. It will help us to identify and understand local priorities via existing data and conducting further research into how community needs can be met.
To do this, we are consulting stakeholders, mapping assets across the three districts, and engaging with communities to really understand the barriers and challenges people are facing. This will be followed by a series of pilot interventions to learn how we might overcome some of the obstacles.
We already know that the investment needs to target areas where there are barriers to participation in activities, be they financial, physical, institutional, or simply just a lack of awareness – especially for underrepresented groups.
This work will provide, for the first time, a true picture of what is preventing people from being active and what can be resolved.
By focusing on influencing decision-making for lasting change, we will make sure that more people can be more active, more often
Active Lincolnshire’s Place Partnerships aim to create more active communities by aligning Sport England’s national vision with local action. Our collaborative approach delivers benefits across residents, organisations, and the wider community.
