New investment from Sport England supporting communities across Lincolnshire to move move

We are delighted to have received new investment from Sport England as part of their Place Universal Offer. Through this funding Sport England is helping Active Partnerships across the country create the conditions for change and to support different parts of the sector to work together, so that everyone can be physically active.

In Lincolnshire, the funding will enable us to strengthen and accelerate our work across West Lindsey, North Kesteven, South Kesteven and Lincoln, helping to tackle inequality and reduce inactivity. Combined with the Place Expansion targeted investment in Boston, East Lindsey and South Holland, announced last year, this ensures we are supporting every district across the county to become more physically active.

Our Place Partnership areas were identified as those with the greatest need, where communities experience the highest levels of health inequality and face the most significant barriers to being active. Place Expansion funding from Sport England is supporting us to work closely with partners and communities in Boston, South Holland and East Lindsey, to embed community led change, and help narrow the gap in activity levels.

Place Universal Offer investment will support us to build on the knowledge and insight gained from our Place Expansion work, applying this across all districts in Lincolnshire. Our focus will remain on the groups and areas facing the greatest challenges to being active. By working collaboratively and responding to the unique needs of each place, we aim to create meaningful, long-term change.

Lisa Dodd-Mayne, Sport England said.

“We want everyone, no matter where they live or who they are, to have the chance to be active and healthy. To do this, we’re focusing on places, towns, cities, and communities, where people face the biggest challenges. We are proud to be working with 30 more Active Partnerships and their local communities, in every corner of the country, to break down the barriers to physical activity so that everyone has equal access to a more active life.”

Gemma Skaley, Development Director at Active Lincolnshire commented:

“We are proud to receive this investment from Sport England. It represents a significant opportunity to build on our existing work across Lincolnshire, supporting communities to become more active in ways that matter to them. By working closely with local partners and residents, we can address inequalities and make sport and physical activity accessible for everyone, every day”
