Fun and Fitness at the Lincolnshire Show’s Activity Zone

This year’s Lincolnshire Show, held on June 19th and 20th at the Lincolnshire Showground, once again proved to be a vibrant celebration of all things active and engaging. Among the many attractions that drew over 50,000 visitors, the Activity Zone, stood out as a hub of energetic fun and interactive experiences.

The Activity Zone, hosted by Active Lincolnshire in collaboration with numerous local partners, was a testament to the county’s enthusiasm for sport and physical activity. It brought together a diverse array of activities designed to get people moving and have a great time. From traditional favourites to novel challenges, there was something for everyone to engage with:

  • Wheelchair Basketball led by Active Lincolnshire showcased inclusivity and skill.
  • Orienteering maze by British Orienteering challenged navigational skills with electronic timers.
  • Swim, bike, run transition challenge by British Triathlon tested agility and teamwork.
  • Off-road rides into Cathedral Woods by Giant Lincoln offered a serene escape into nature.
  • Health checks and rowing challenges by GLL Better promoted wellbeing through physical challenges.
  • Penalty shootout games by Lincoln City Foundation excited football fans of all ages with the opportunity to meet the first team players from Lincoln City FC’s men's and women's teams.
  • American Football tackle dummies from the Lincolnshire Bombers provided a taste of gridiron action.
  • Wellbeing walks and health checks by Lincolnshire Coop and their pharmacists underscored the importance of supporting overall health.
  • Netball shooting competitions and interactive quizzes by Loughborough Lightning Netball kept participants engaged.
  • Creative activities like climbing walls and parkour courses by YMCA added a dash of adventure.

The overwhelming feedback from our partners underscored the success of this year’s event. Partners noted the high level of engagement from both children and adults alike, as well as commenting on the seamless organisation.
