Move This May - Team challenge

Move This May - Team challenge

This May, colleagues across our team laced up their trainers, jumped on their bikes, and made movement part of their everyday lives as part of our Move This May staff challenge.

The aim was simple: track minutes of activity and inspire each other to move more. The results were nothing short of fantastic.

Our Top Movers

Taking the top spot was Tracey Wilkinson, our Active Community Connector for East Lindsey. Tracey spent the month training for her place representing Great Britain at the 2026 European Sprint Distance Duathlon Championships in Banyoles. Logging an incredible 3390 minutes of movement, Tracey completed 92km of running, 207km of cycling, alongside circuit training and plenty of dog walking.

In second place was our Skills Manager, Laura Spurr, with an impressive 3272 minutes. Laura embraced a wide range of activities including walking (both active minutes and active travel), hiking, paddleboarding, litter picking and playing in the garden.

A very close third place goes to our Chief Executive Emma Tatlow, with an impressive 3145 minute. Emma’s month included over 400 miles of cycling, including taking part in the Lincoln Grand Prix as well as walks and paddleboarding.

Movement in so many forms

What made Move This May so special was the diversity of activities. It wasn’t about structured exercise, it was about finding ways to move that felt enjoyable and fit into daily life.

Across the team, colleagues took part in parkruns, wheelchair basketball, trail running and so much more. Every activity counted, showing that movement really can look different for everyone.

More than a challenge

Beyond the statistics and competition, Move This May was about building habits, boosting wellbeing, and supporting each other. Whether it was a quick lunchtime walk or a long-distance cycle, every minute counted and every effort contributed to a more active workplace culture. The achievements seen this May show just how powerful a simple challenge can be. We'll be continuing to log our active minutes throughout the year, to support and encourage each other to move more.

Active Hour

To help staff be more active, Active Lincolnshire has a number of staff initiatives. One of the most successful is the Active Hour. This employee benefit gives team members the freedom to take one hour during the working week to be active in a way that works for them. Whether it's a brisk walk, a gym session, yoga or simply moving in a way that feels good, the Active Hour is all about flexibility. Team members appreciate the time to fit movement into busy schedules, and we've noticed staff have noticed a boost in energy levels improved focus, and an overall lift in mood that carries through the rest of the day.
