Our Finalists

Caron Grove

Caron has transformed her health and fitness following two mini-strokes. Recognising the need to take control of her wellbeing, she joined the NHS “Exercise on Prescription” programme through One You Lincolnshire and became part of Magna Vitae’s fitness community. Caron overcame initial fears of returning to the gym and progressed to Personal Training sessions, group classes and swimming. She has lost 4 stone, reduced her body age by six years and increased her muscle mass.

Beyond physical changes, Caron has gained confidence, resilience, and mental wellbeing, using exercise to manage work stress, menopause symptoms, and life challenges. She now inspires others at the gym, encouraging them to take charge of their own health.

JohnPaul Grayson

After experiencing challenges with his mental and physical health, including PTSD, depression, diabetes, and injuries from his time working as a pathology technician, John Paul was referred to Magna Vitae gym through a 12-week GP exercise programme. After completing the programme, he signed up for an annual membership and now trains regularly, spending around two hours in the gym on his days off and attending supported swim sessions.

Since starting, John Paul has lost 3 stone, reduced his diabetes and cholesterol levels, and significantly improved his mental health, confidence, and overall wellbeing. His positive experience has also inspired others; several of the people he supports through his work with Linkage have now joined the gym, and John often trains alongside them.

Karen Hills

Karen Hills has transformed her health and lifestyle through physical activity, progressing from attending Aquacise classes to preparing for powerlifting qualifiers. She first began low-impact exercise in Louth to help manage arthritis, which built her confidence and created a consistent fitness routine. Since then, Karen has lost 4 stone, improved her overall health, and developed a passion for strength training. Initially unfamiliar with weightlifting, Karen received support from a fellow gym member, which encouraged her to start training with barbells. She has since achieved a 120kg deadlift personal best and continues to progress while adapting her workouts to manage menopause symptoms.

In addition to her personal achievements, Karen has qualified as a Gentle Aquacise instructor and now uses her experience to inspire and support others.
