The Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH) has approved this online learning product from 20 July 2022 in accordance with RCPCH CPD guidelines.
This course was originally developed in partnership with The George Coller Memorial Fund.
This free eLearning resource from Education For Heath is designed for anyone who supports children and young people with asthma.
As long as a child is managing their asthma well, research shows exercise can cut a child’s risk of asthma symptoms. Most children with asthma can enjoy PE, after-school clubs and other activities along with everyone else.
Regular exercise is good for a child’s asthma because it: improves how well a child’s lungs work so they have more stamina and get less out of breath; boosts a child’s immune system so they’re less likely to get coughs and colds which will make their asthma worse; improves a child’s mood and self-esteem which can influence how well they manage their asthma and helps a child feel more confident about their asthma, and what they can achieve.
The eLearning material will take approximately 45 mins to complete. It is designed so you can work through the module at your own pace, and can return to review the material at any point during your enrolment period (six months from date of registration).
