About us

Active Lincolnshire is committed to providing opportunities for everyone in Lincolnshire to be active every day. We work with partners to address inequalities and inactivity, responding to the needs of people and places.

What we do

As advocates for the positive power that physical activity has on everyone’s lives, we work in partnership to improve understanding, influence change, and tackle the challenge of inactivity.

Knowledge Hub

Our Knowledge Hub is the core of our website. Here you’ll find our guidance, advice, insight and support in all areas of physical activity and sport.

Scheme Benefits

The scheme will:

  • Save at least 500 bikes from going to landfill each year
  • Refurbish bikes that are pre-loved and no longer used to a safe and roadworthy condition.
  • Provide a free bike for people who would otherwise not be able to access or afford one
  • Provide recipients with personal safety equipment and cycle training
  • Train community volunteer bike mechanics to build resilience and sustainability of the scheme
  • Provide ongoing support with free ‘repair café’ drop in’s at the local Hubs
  • Support community and voluntary organisations and create a network of community ‘Wheels for Life’ hubs across the county
  • Encourage active travel and behaviour change for short journey’s

Did You Know?

For every 500 bikes that are recycled we're saving 7.5 tonnes of waste each year.

If each one of those bikes is ridden 10 miles a week, the programme will save around 75 tonnes of carbon emissions, compared to equivalent fossil-fuel powered journeys!
