Your Active Voice Survey Results published

We have published the findings of the Your Active Voice survey, marking an important step in our ongoing work to support and strengthen the sport and physical activity sector across the county.
Launched in spring 2025, the survey invited feedback from those with oversight of clubs, venues, and physical activity organisations – whether in paid roles or as volunteers. With responses from 96 organisations, clubs, and groups, and 10 in-depth interviews, the survey has helped build a picture of the sector’s current landscape across Lincolnshire.
Respondents represented a wide range of organisations – from traditional sports clubs and community groups to local authorities and leisure operators – all playing a vital role in keeping our county active.
The report reveals positive news for participation levels in Lincolnshire, with 40% of respondents observing increased participation levels. The report also shows how providers are using innovative approaches to engage more people in being active, and opening up opportunities for young people, and communities facing greater barriers to being active. With many respondent keen to open up opportunities to diverse groups.
The importance of cross sector collaboration was highlighted through the report. In response to this, we have already taken action by launching the Lincolnshire Sport & Physical Activity Network (LSPAN) – a new forum for collaboration, learning, and connection across the sector. The first event brought together organisations from across the county to build relationships and identify shared priorities.
The main challenges facing the sector were highlighted through the survey results. Accessing and applying for funding was a priority for 69% of people completing the survey. In response to this, we recently hosted a funding webinar with Sport England for the LSPAN group offering practical advice and direct insights into the Movement Fund, helping local organisations better understand and access the support available to them.
Katie Chapman, Head of Development, Physical Activity Sector commented:
“We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who took the time to share their views and experiences The insight we’ve gathered is invaluable. It’s helped us better understand both the opportunities and the challenges the sector is facing locally. This is just the beginning – we’re using these findings to shape our support, share learning, and amplify the voices of those working at the heart of sport and physical activity in Lincolnshire. Off the back of the survey findings we've launched the Lincolnshire Sport & Physical Activity Network, to help connect, and support the sector- we invite anyone working in sport and physical activity in Lincolnshire to sign up to this free network.
As well as funding pressures, other key themes the survey report highlights include workforce development, volunteer recruitment and access to facilities.
This isn’t a one-off exercise; Your Active Voice is the start of an ongoing journey to build a stronger, more resilient, and inclusive physical activity sector for Lincolnshire.
