We’re excited to share that we’ve recently expanded our Communications team, strengthening how we champion the vital role of physical activity, influence system-wide change, and better articulate the impact of our work across the county.
Effective communication plays a vital role in transforming how physical activity is understood, valued and embedded across communities. By strengthening our capacity in this area, we’re ensuring that the stories, evidence and voices driving change are heard more clearly – helping to align partners, influence decision‑making, and create a shared sense of purpose across the county.
We’re pleased to welcome Michael O’Connor as our new Director of Communications, leading our strategic communications approach and further embedding the role of communications across everything we do.
Working closely with our CEO and Senior Leadership Team, Michael will play a pivotal role in shaping how we connect with partners, stakeholders and communities. A central focus of his role will be building strong, meaningful relationships that help create a shared vision for physical activity and wellbeing across Lincolnshire.
Michael will lead the development of impactful communications strategies and campaigns that bring organisations together, support place‑based approaches, and influence change at a system level – particularly in tackling inequalities in access to physical activity.
With significant experience across marketing, communications and PR, Michael brings a strong understanding of how clear, compelling messaging can drive action and support long‑term change.
We’re also delighted to welcome two further additions to the team, each bringing expertise that will help us connect more effectively with our audiences and partners.
Jake Davies joins as Events & Engagement Lead, supporting the delivery of our events programme – including the annual Sport & Physical Activity Awards. Jake will also work closely with providers, clubs and partners to enhance opportunities across the county through the Let’s Move Lincolnshire Activity Finder, helping people discover ways to be active that work for them.
Joining as Content & Campaign Lead, Alexandra Williams will play a key role in telling the story of why being active matters. Through engaging, insight‑led campaigns, Alexandra will help shine a light on the positive impact physical activity has on individuals, communities and the wider local economy – ensuring our messaging resonates with diverse audiences and reflects local need.
They join Charlotte Pedley, our Digital Communications Lead, who continues to lead on our digital platforms, ensuring we connect effectively with audiences across Lincolnshire and maximise the reach and impact of our work online.
Michael O'Connor commented:
"I’m really excited to be leading a new communications team dedicated to sharing the amazing work Active Lincolnshire does, through powerful, impactful storytelling.”
Emma Tatlow, Active Lincolnshire CEO commented:
“We’re thrilled to welcome Michael, Alexandra and Jake to our team. Bringing a wealth of experience across strategic communications, campaigns and event management, they will play a key role in helping us share the impact of our work, connect with our communities, and help drive meaningful change across Lincolnshire."
Together, this expanded team will play a vital role in strengthening relationships, amplifying impact, and breaking down barriers to physical activity. It marks an important step in supporting the growth of our place‑based work, enabling us to better listen to communities, respond to local priorities and support connected action across the system.
By investing in our communications capacity, we are significantly enhancing how we position both Active Lincolnshire and the wider physical activity sector – ensuring we can clearly, consistently and compellingly demonstrate the difference being active makes to people’s lives and to the future of our county.
