Sustainability Strategies
British Cycling - Sustainability Plan
British Cycling's first long-term sustainability strategy includes an ambitious target to achieve net zero by 2035 and to halve their carbon emissions by 2030.
Developed with the support of renowned sustainability consultants Think Beyond, and contributions from across the cycling community, the strategy also sets out British Cycling's vision to become world leaders in the delivery of sustainable events, and continue to advocate for more people to make short journeys by bike.
In addition to its focus on reducing our own emissions the strategy champions the true power of the bike, recognising that if everyone in the UK who owned a bike cycled for journeys under five miles, rather than travelling by car, we’d save 10 million tonnes of carbon emissions and save the NHS £30.8 billion a year.
UK Sport - Environmental Sustainability Strategy
Published in March 2023, UK Sport's Environmental Sustainability Strategy includes a goal for high-performance sport to have a net positive impact on the environment by 2040. This ambition builds on a goal of reducing the negative environmental impact of UK Sport’s own activities and operations, to achieve net zero by 2030.
English Cricket Board - Sustainability Plan
The ECB’s Environmental Sustainability Plan for Cricket maps out the next steps that they will take in collaboration with the cricket network, their suppliers and partners to make cricket more sustainable.
The ESP focuses on ensuring the ECB provides the leadership and support to inspire everyone in cricket – from grassroots clubs to our suppliers - to achieve shared sustainability ambitions.
To help drive that goal the ECB has become the first cricket National Governing Body to sign up to the commitments of the UN Sport for Climate Action framework, which provides science-based targets for all of society.
