The Innovation Award

This award recognises innovative and inclusive projects that bring communities together through movement in an innovative way, and /or that encourage people or groups from non-physical activity settings, who don’t usually take part, to start moving more.

Our Finalists

  • Dance Free Community Interest Company
Dance Free offers a fun opportunity for people to move freely and connect with others through movement in natural locations throughout Lincolnshire. Dance Free uses carefully selected music to invoke the desire to move energetically. As the majority of tracks are uplifting, participants feel positive and naturally move in a way that increases their heart rate. DF has collaborated with multiple organisations including Active Lincolnshire, Woodland Trust, Canal and River Trust, Youth Sports Trust - Girls Active programme, Lincolnshire Wolds Outdoor Festival, SO Festival and Goldsmiths University.

  • Golf in Society
Golf in Society transforms the lives of older adults by putting golf at the heart of local communities. The programme inspires people living with chronic illnesses such as dementia and Parkinson's disease to discover how golf can improve their health and happiness as well as giving them hope for the future. The Discover Golf programmes are tailored to meet the needs of every individual and have been designed in partnership with the families they support.

  • Jubilee Park Woodhall Spa
Jubilee Park's community-orientated physical activity programmes, brings together members of the community, improving physical and mental wellbeing. The provision of year-round outdoor classes and swimming pool season aquacise with a sense of fun and enjoyment has been a huge hit and encouraged many new members. Recent initiatives have also included increasing accessibility of their services to community members that are financially restricted and/or refugees. The donate a swim campaign – targeted at people who struggle to afford the cost of swimming, especially as a family activity and also to support the recent arrival of Ukrainian refugees has been very popular both with recipients and donors.
