Promote your activity with Let's Move Lincolnshire

Active Lincolnshire are committed to improving health and wellbeing in Lincolnshire by getting more people, more active, more often!

To help achieve this goal and make it easy for people to find sport and activity opportunities, Active Lincolnshire has partnered with Playwaze to create an OpenActive powered activity finder. This makes it simple for customers as it displays all the relevant information they need i.e. class times, location and costs which are shared by clubs/groups who use an OpenActive compliant booking system.

Activity Finder

Featuring an OpenActive powered Activity Finder, the new Let's Move Lincolnshire website makes it easy for residents of Lincolnshire to find out about opportunities to be active.

  • About Let's Move Lincolnshire

The new Let’s Move Lincolnshire website is a one stop shop for residents of Lincolnshire looking for ideas and inspiration about how to be active. At the heart of the website is an OpenActive powered Club & Activity Finder, which provides a user-friendly search for people to find opportunities to be active in their local area that are most appropriate for them.

The website also hosts information about walking routes, cycling, and provide inspiration through blogs and stories from real people in Lincolnshire.

The site is being developed and shaped by asking residents of Lincolnshire what is most important to them. It aims to break down barriers to participation through using simple, appealing messaging and images of real people in real places in Lincolnshire.

We are taking inspiration from national consumer facing campaigns, such as This Girl Can and We are Undefeatable and working with behaviour change experts, Social Change UK as well as technology experts Playwaze.

The website will continue to develop and grow as we add more activities, and shape content in response to feedback from Lincolnshire residents.

  • Promote your activity

    Club & Activity Finder

One key barrier to becoming more active is a lack of information about what physical activity opportunities there are in the local area. To help tackle this challenge, our Let’s Move Lincolnshire website features a open data enabled Club & Activity Finder, giving users up-to-date information about nearby physical activity sessions, facilities and events. By featuring your activity on the Activity Finder, you can make it easier for more people to access your club, group or session.

    How to get involved

To include your activity or facility on the Activity Finder, your organisation will need to open up your activity data. This also means your session information can also be shared on other digital platforms and National campaigns, such as Sports England's This Girl Can site.

    What is open data?

Open data is data that is available for anyone to access, use and share. For example, galleries, libraries and museums use open data to make it easy for anyone to access information about paintings, books and artefacts. The travel industry use it to make booking flights and hotels easier.

In the physical activity sector, this easy-to-access data gives organisations and activity providers the chance to get more people involved with their activity sessions. By publishing open data about your activities, your sessions can be listed on a wide range of third-party apps and websites, making it easier for people to find and book your activities online.

Using open data also makes sharing and updating information about your activity sessions easier. Instead of updating details in lots of different places, you can streamline the process by uploading information to a single open-data enabled platform.

    OpenActive

OpenActive is a sector-wide initiative to support sports and physical activity organisations to publish and use open data. OpenActive develops a standard format to publish and use data.

How can I open up my data?

For sports clubs, venues or community groups with activity sessions, the easiest way to publish open data is through an OpenActive-enabled platform.

If you’re already using a booking or leisure-management system, it may already be OpenActive compliant (follow this link to check). If your system isn't currently OpenActive-enabled or you use a bespoke system, OpenActive can help you speak to your provider or support your developers in creating an OpenActive feed on your system. Contact hello@openactive.io

If you're not already using a booking system (for example, if you only take bookings over the phone), follow the link below for a marketplace of OpenActive-enabled platforms you can use to publish your data.

  • Share your content

Let's Move Lincolnshire is a county-wide campaign to get more people active. We are inviting communities, town and parish councils, local authorities, community groups and organisations to help us make The Let's Move Lincolnshire website as useful as possible. We’d love you to contribute content about ways to be active in your village, town, district or place.

We want to showcase all of the ways people can be active in the green and blue spaces of Lincolnshire. For example, the parks and woodland children can play in, the skate parks, the walking and cycling routes and trails; the woods. We will also be listing events that provide options for people to be active.

    Events

For the events section, we are looking for events that take place each year or are one-off events. (Anything that happens frequently such as every week or every month will feature on the activity finder). If you have an event in your area, such as a walking festival, a cycling event, a running event or an open day that involved any kind of activity, you can list your event on the event calendar.

    Share 'Your Stories'

The website will include case studies and testimonials from the people of Lincolnshire. We know that it is important for people to see ‘people like me’ represented and stories to inspire and encourage them to be more active, and give them ideas of suitable activities they could try. The site will feature a range of short testimonials as well as longer case studies that will be branded as ‘Your Stories’. We are particularly interested in featuring case studies of people who have used physical activity to make a positive change in their lives or successfully overcome barriers to being active.

If you know of somebody that has a great story they would be willing to share, or you would like to inspire people with your own story please get in touch with Charlotte.Pedley@ActiveLincolnshire.com.

(Please do not share anybody's personal details without their permission)

Ways to be active - share your ideas!

At the heart of the website is an OpenActive powered Activity Finder, we are encouraging clubs and activity providers to open up their data to list their activity sessions. Alongside the activity finder, the website will include a range of feature content to inspire people to get moving. We will showcase different activities and ways to be active.

We are particularly interested in activities that encourage people to 'try something different' - from paddleboarding to skateboarding, BMX-ing to orienteering.

If you have a suggestion for an activity you think we should feature or an idea for a blog around being active please get in touch with us: Charlotte.Pedley@ActiveLincolnshire.com
