Empowering Lincolnshire Mums to be happier and healthier
Staying active while pregnant has been shown to support a healthy pregnancy and postpartum recovery. That’s why our pre and post-natal programme is designed to give healthcare professionals in maternity services the awareness and confidence they need to promote the benefits of physical activity – both during and after pregnancy.
Working with One You Lincolnshire’s Health in Pregnancy team, Better Births Lincolnshire, United Lincolnshire Hospital Trust (ULHT) and Lincolnshire County Council, we help equip healthcare professionals, practitioners and physical activity providers with consistent messaging for new and expectant mothers, encouraging them to remain as active as possible.
In 2021 we worked with Social Change to carry out research in Lincolnshire into perceptions, attitudes and behaviours towards engaging in physical activity in pregnancy. The insight from this survey provides us with key areas of focus for behaviour change, that will allow us to work with partners to create relevant messaging and suitable opportunities for pregnant women and new mums across the county.
We are currently working to upskill the physical activity workforce so they have the necessary knowledge to work with and support pre and post natal women.
Our work also includes connecting pre and post-natal women to relevant opportunities to be active and signposting them to local support groups.
